Wesley shook his head and curled his fingers into Spike's shirt again. "No, I want to stay like this. With you."

"Looks like you're feeling no pain, doesn't it?" Spike said, trying not to laugh. He wouldn't want Wesley to act this way every day, but he had to admit that he enjoyed seeing him so loose. "How many times am I going to have to tell you to take the medicine before you start hurting? Bugger the schedules."

"Maybe when they give me the pills we can hide some of them away and use them when there's no reason to feel pain," Wesley said. He frowned. "When I'm not hurt. I wonder what it would be like? Although I suppose that's how people become addicts."

Spike frowned a bit, trying to follow Wesley's train of thought. "I thought you didn't like being on the drugs."

"I don't like needing to be on them," Wesley said. He knew it wasn't that simple, but he wasn't sure how to explain. His thoughts were whirling about. "But I might like how they feel if it was just for fun."

"Never thought I'd hear that from you," Spike said with a little laugh.

Wesley's eyes widened and he grinned. "Some boyfriend you are, laughing at me."

"If you don't want to be laughed at, you picked the wrong bloke," Spike replied, grinning in return. "But I'm not laughing at you. You surprised me."

"I did?" Wesley tried to remember how he might have done that, but couldn't.

"Didn't peg you for the sort who'd give up his control without a fight." Spike thought back to Wesley playing at taking his commands in bed and added, "Or a good reason."

"There might be a good reason sooner or later," Wesley said, recalling that they were talking about taking morphine when it wasn't strictly called for. "Am I making any sense at all?"

Spike laughed again. "Now and then. Trying this stuff out for fun makes sense to me, apart from you being the one suggesting it. As long as you don't get addicted; I've seen enough opium dens and crack houses to last a lifetime. Didn't like them that much even when I was evil. Gets boring when your dinner's just lying there."

"It's never as much fun when one's partner just lies there," Wesley agreed, thinking of something else entirely.
