Wesley shook his head and curled his fingers into Spike's shirt again. "No, I want to stay like this. With you."

"I wouldn't want to make plans that didn't include you," Wesley said, as seriously as he could manage. "I don't think that I could."

"I know you could." Spike took in the vagueness in Wesley's eyes and amended, "Maybe not right now. But I'm glad you don't want to."

"I want to be with you as much as possible," Wesley said. "Although you'll have to tell me when that begins to get annoying. I'm sure it will at some point. Just promise to be gentle with me."

"That's never going to happen," Spike said softly, looking steadily into Wesley's eyes. "I'll always want you to be with me."

"At some point you'll want to go out for an evening without me tagging along," Wesley said.

Spike smiled. "You make it sound like you're some annoying youngster following at my heels," he said. "I'm sure we'll both want to be on our own now and again, but I'll always be looking forward to getting back to you."

"I'll do my best to live up to that," Spike said, though he couldn't shake the conviction that Wesley should have wanted more.
