But I shouldn't need you to. And I don't like that I do. Wesley didn't want to say either of those things, so he curled himself into Spike's touch and sighed.

"What?" Wesley glanced at Spike, then realized what he was talking about. "Oh. No, I am. I just... it would be nice if I could make a mark that would last. Even for a little while." He licked the spot again.

"If you break the skin it lasts longer," Spike said absently, focusing on the feel of Wesley's tongue. "Or break a bone."

Wesley tried to suppress a shiver of distaste at the thought. "You could put one on me?" he suggested, as a substitute.

Spike took a moment to catch up with the conversation. "I already have," he said, tracing the tip of one finger over the mark he had left on Wesley's throat earlier in the day.

"Oh," Wesley said, bringing his hand up to his own throat where Spike was touching it. He pressed down hard on the spot and felt the faint ache of a bruise.

Smiling faintly as he pressed on the mark again, Wesley shook his head. "Of course not. I... I like it." That was a bit of an understatement.
