"Thank you for giving it to me," Wesley said, just as softly, closing his eyes and resting his hand on Spike's chest, letting his thumb rub back and forth in a gentle rhythm.

"I want it, too. I love you," Spike replied, settling his cheek against Wesley's hair. "You've given me more than anyone. Dru gave me immortality, and Buffy gave me a chance at redemption, but you, you gave me your heart. You gave me yourself. It's everything I've ever wanted." He could hear the emotion in his voice and he added more lightly, "Yeah, I'm bleeding sentimental. It comes out now and then. You'll have to get used to it."

"I don't mind," Wesley said. "Actually, I like it. We're right for each other. There's something comforting in that. Peaceful."

Spike was quiet for a moment, absorbing that comment. "I didn't think I'd find peace."

Wesley raised his head and looked at Spike. "Don't worry," he said. "I won't let you get too peaceful. I'll be sure to do something unexpected and exciting every now and then, just to keep you on your toes."

"I've got no doubt about that, pet," Spike said with a smile. "There's still a lot about you I don't know. You'll never stop surprising me."

"Only in good ways, I hope," Wesley murmured, lying down again, grateful for the feel of Spike's lean, strong body against his own. "But I do hope you'll feel peaceful sometimes. If you want to."

Shutting his eyes, Spike wrapped his arms more securely around Wesley, holding him as close as he dared. "I haven't had much of it, but I do. With you, anyway. Don't see myself becoming one of those Zen monks."

Wesley was too comfortable to do more than chuckle. "No. I wouldn't want you to. I love you the way you are."

"Mmm, I love you, too, pet." Spike lazily rubbed his face against Wesley's hair. "Besides, I've always hated chanting."
