"What do you need?" Spike asked, watching Wesley for any sign of wooziness or soreness. "I'll get it for you." Wesley's comment about finding his overprotectiveness irritating echoed in his head, and he took a mental but not physical step back. "Sorry. I'll run the bath."

Spike slipped his arm around Wesley's waist and leaned in for a quick, orange-flavored kiss. "In you go," he said, guiding him toward the tub.

The water, when Wesley stepped into it, was hot enough to make him hiss, but he sank down into it gratefully all the same. "Can I say -- not for the first time, I realize -- that I really did miss having a bathtub?"

Despite what Wesley had said, Spike brought over his glass and set it on the floor next to the tub before getting into the space Wesley had left behind him. He lowered himself down, extending his legs on either side of Wesley. "The first shower I ever had was a revelation, but there's something to be said for a nice bath." He slipped his arms around Wesley's shoulders and pulled him back against him. "Especially when you've got someone to share it."

Wesley sighed and relaxed back against Spike's chest. "Yes, this is the best part."

"You just say that because I'm the one with the cold porcelain against my back," Spike said, smiling and enfolding Wesley in his arms.

"We'll do it the other way around soon," Wesley said. He turned his head to look at Spike and curled his hands up around Spike's arms.

As Spike met Wesley's eyes, a feeling of contentment even warmer than the water washed over him. "I don't care, love. I'm happy like this, too."

"If I fall asleep like this, you really will have to carry me," Wesley said, turning back around and getting comfortable.

"I'm plenty strong enough," Spike replied with a happy little sigh as the water sloshed around gently with Wesley's movements. "Though you're tall enough I might bump bits of you into the wall. Guess I'll have to sling you over my shoulder."
